The castle is open daily from February through November from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from December through January from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the last entry 30 minutes before closing. After the Royalist second Earl was arrested at Dunluce in 1642 the family ceased to reside at Dunluce Castle, which gradually fell into decay, though it remained the property of the Earls of Antrim until 1928 when it was transferred to the State for preservation.
